here are several factors which affect the cost of producing books. The main ones are listed here.
Size of book page.
Number of pages.
Type of binding – soft bound (paperback) or case bound (hardback).
If case bound, does your book have a dust jacket?
How complex is the cover or jacket design?
Are we designing the book or are you supplying a print ready PDF? There is obviously a cost for us to produce the artwork which you have to weigh up against how professional you want your book to look.
Both colour or black & white photograph plate pages add to the cost, colour more than black & white.
Does your book require an index?
The level of complexity of text formatting also affects the pricing. At the simple end if the scale is a novel with roman text and perhaps the odd bit of bold or italics; at the other end is a reference book with footnotes, indented quotations in a different type size and/or face.
Type of paper used.
Typeface used for text. (Different typefaces are slightly different set widths and so will slightly vary the page count.)
Hopefully, having looked through our website, you will have a clearer idea about what you require for your book. Please feel free to contact us if you require further clarification.
